The billboard is held up. People look at it. Whoever paid the most is on it. This is advertising, unchanged since 1867.
One cent above whoever is up there. That is the entire ruleset. Nobody can leap ahead with a bigger cheque — the price moves one penny at a time, forever.
Your guaranteed run scales with what you paid — a minute at the bottom, up to ten at a thousand dollars. Nobody can touch it until your timer ends.
After the lock expires you stay up there for free until somebody outbids you. When they do, you slide down the leaderboard — and stay on it forever.
